new year, new loots}

Hello everyone! How's 2014 been for you guys so far? I am hoping this year will be an awesome year for me with graduation and everything. Excited! Meanwhile do stay here for updates as I will be having my first giveaway very soon! :)

Anyhoo... I was at Sasa the other day and happen to chance upon Cyber Colors newest product! As usual, I couldn't and wouldn't resist the offer and bought 3 polishes for $18 (promo price). The Eco Nail Color is made up of 85% natural ingredients such as wood pulp, cotton and assorted vegetables. This exclusive formula from France promises to infuse your nails with natural vitamins and nutrients!

How pretty~ Check out the bright red color I bought for this festive season! Momsy complained that I have too many polishes. Oh well, she also said the same for my clothes, bags and so on. A girl can never have too many polishes right? But to be honest, my online shopping addiction is getting out of hand. And I blame websites like Amazon.com for having such low prices and tempting offers such as free shipping to Singapore. Take a look at how serious my problem is...

All these came in time for Christmas! The Stila glossy set was a real steal, where else can you find gloss with such a wide variety of shades for just approx SGD$35. Really good stocking stuffers. And guess how much did the casio watch cost? FREAKING SGD$23!!! SO DAMN CHEAP! I have seen retailers here selling for more than SGD$50. So there you go... my love-hate relationship with Amazon

Oh well, it's the season to spend after all. The traditions of CNY encourages us to do so too! We chinese are to wear new clothes on the day itself and basically everything brand new from head to toe! Hehe... and that includes nail polishes too! *smirk*

Mygen Beauty Collagen}

SPONSORED REVIEW

Fun facts about collagen:

Up to 30% of all protein in the body is collagen

- Up to 70% of the protein in connective tissue are composed of collagen

Collagen makes up a substantial amount of the protein composition of ligaments, tendons, cartilage, bone and skin

Collagen also fills out the cornea where it is present in crystalline form

It is also used in cosmetic surgery, for example lip enhancement

It is responsible for skin elasticity, and its degradation leads to wrinkles that accompany aging

Here comes the not-so-fun fact... the body's natural ability to repair supporting connective tissue and maintain hydration of cells diminishes after age 25. It is estimated by 40 years of age, your body stops manufacturing collagen. This results in fine lines and wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity, poor hair, nail and joint quality.

Fret not, as Mygen Beauty Collagen is here to save the day! It is an intensive formula to improve the water binder that help to keep your skin supple, radiant and firm. Domino's Appreciation Dinner}
Monday 23 December 2013 | 19:13 | 0Comment

SPONSORED REVIEW

My second food event within the month, seriously fat die me. But this is Domino's we are talking about so every single calorie is worth it. The event was held in Scape which I haven't been to for centuries. Found out that my previous working place Red Mango is no longer there. *Shrugs* Froyo wars hurt real bad, I guess. Anyhoo, I was really curious who won the inter-blogger domino's contest. FYI: Winner gets to bag a thousand dollars cash price for selling the most pizzas.

Spoiler: guy in pink is the winner of the night

A lot of food will be an understatement cuz' we can easily feed a few families with all the leftovers. They have assorted pizzas, onion rings, chicken drumlets and crunchies. I was overwhelmed with the variety and at the same time thankful for the hospitality. So happy and needless to say my tummy was delighted too!

During dinner, Miss Linda shared with us about Domino's food being freshly baked and not deep fried or anything like that which is really new to me. I guess we are always quick to stereotype fast food as unhealthy. But now it seems to me that Domino's chicken drumlet isn't as fatal as your average oily deep fried chicken drumlet.

And of course, how can we end the meal without a proper dessert to match? Introducing my favorite chocolate molten lava cake which is served warm to our table! :)

Gotta love the gooey!

psychedelic trip}

It's that time of the year again to do my health screening at Amara Corporate Tower. I was scheduled on a Saturday as the female doctor was unavailable for my requested appointment date. Worst. Decision. Ever. The clinic was super packed and there's only one female doctor in the house. Everything was only done close to lunch time even though I reached there early and did everything in godspeed. Wandered around like a hungry ghost (fasted the night before), I saw this cutesy pink shop and curiosity got the better of me.

Sushi Burrito specializes in sushi that comes in a burrito form but of course seaweed wrap instead of tortilla. I ordered their half-sized rainbow shrimp which consists of a deep-fry ebi prawn packed with crabmeat strips, loads of salad veggies and not to mention vinegar-ed sushi rice. Overall it was pretty much acceptable except for the weird pink sauce which I have no idea what it was.

However, if you wanna be creative with your sushi then I would highly recommend Maki-San located at the basement of The Cathay. So for each maki you can choose different number unique of ingredients such as grilled eggplant, anchovies and etc. Since I bought the groupon vouchers, I was entitled to two mega-sans... LUCKY ME!

the lethal combo: sushi + godzilla

Can't remember exactly what I chose but you can't go wrong with grilled unagi, roasted mushrooms and tempura crunch. I love the crunchiness of the tempura bits and will definitely choose it again the next time. Do select the yuzu honey vinaigrette as your sauce option for the extra zest! In comparison, sushi burrito is slightly on the dull side whereas maki-san's colorful creations are slightly more affordable for students like us.

Had to rush down to school for some sleep-inducing mathematics after the health screening. Ended around 3pm then joined S for fries and milkshakes at Swensen's coupled with some intellectual conversations regarding poor and rich divide in Singapore. Stuff like how the rich are entitled to opportunities in life without even having to work hard for it. And how the poor are being robbed of even the basics required to strive for better opportunities in life. Meritocracy just a facade? Usually these conversations go nowhere but I guess it's good to know how the other party thinks.

Anyhoo we ended up at Liang Court and brought S for his virgin trip to Meidi-Ya and as per normal he was deeply intrigued by the selection of alcohol available. One fellow there bought like 10-20 bottles of a particular brand of sake. Guess it's party time for him that very night. Soon it was dinner time and we decided to have ramen at Marutama.

The egg, ramen noodles and meat was good. But the soup base was kinda confusing for me, it could be the mountains of spring onions and seaweed flakes or the fact that they use chicken broth instead of the usual pork broth. The service was attentive and prompt therefore I shall give them another chance. Plus they have some really cute chefs down there! Ha!

Walked around Clarke Quay and took the river taxi like a tourist. Don't be mistaken as this is totally different from the exorbitantly-priced river cruise. Just need to pay a meagre fee of $3 to travel from Fort Canning to Clifford Pier. You will have to top up an extra $4 from Clifford Pier to Marina Bay area.

here's a map for good measure

Educational video clips were played on the ride for tourists and possibly the locals as well. Good Lord, and that's when I learned about the relocation of the Merlion Statue cost 4 times more than the original. Guess how much it was and no Wikipedia cheaterbugs please! Do take a walk down Fullerton Bay Hotel for the view which is insanely beautiful. However the price for one night stay which is a whopping $500 plus isn't that pretty. Oh well, Singapore is an ideal place for the rich and the powerful... actually most capitalistic countries are like that. *shrugs*

nabe no bijin nabe}
Thursday 5 December 2013 | 00:54 | 0Comment

The queue is horrible yet many of them waited. And the same cycle repeats week after week. When I was about ready to give up, I saw no one standing on the waiting line. Zero. Zip. Nada. Zilch. Could it finally be my lucky day? We approached the waitress for a table but she told us nicely that they are fully reserved for the night. I took a glimpse of their log and it was indeed packed. Mind you, the clock hasn't strike 7 yet.

So what's the catch here? It would have to be the bijin nabe steamboat filled with collagen goodness. S and I planned to have our 美人鍋 on a Monday whereby most of the working population had to go back office as they were given off-in-lieu for Deepavali. Very smart right? Almost flawless right? Until we realized that bijin nabe is only served at dinner time, what a bummer! But since we were already there might as well try their food so we ordered the ramen.

I love the way Japanese eat as they really put 100% effort into the preparation and presentation of food. The ingredients were separated from the noodles and soup therefore you can add them in as and when you like. Not sure if the soup is similar to the one for bijin nabe but it is the usual ramen tonkotsu broth. I personally think that the broth is a tad too thick for my liking but S loves it. The ingredients were pretty fresh and I find the chicken thigh yummy.

weird Japanese-English translation?

Guess I shall wait for another timely chance to have my 美人鍋! :)
